2023 Chevrolet Model Year Changes

The 2023 Chevrolet Model Year Changes include a lot of tweaks, more Super Cruise availability, some supply chain issues, a refresh of the Blazer, and a Z06 Corvette with a naturally-aspirated DOHC V8 with a flat-plane crankshaft.

A significant refresh includes a new bumper, grille, wheels, LED headlights (now standard), daytime running lights, and taillights. On the inside, a new steering wheel and a new infotainment system are the primary changes. Several new paint colors are also offered, including Fountain Blue, Sterling Gray Metallic, Copper Bronze Metallic, and Radiant Red Tintcoat. A new Nightshift Blue interior is also available.

The refresh adds almost half an inch to the overall length, now 191.8 inches. Curb weight is up minimally, about 10-18 pounds.

Three new appearance packages: Artic Package 1 or 2 includes a fender hash decal, body-color grille bar, and black bowtie badges. It comes in either silver or gray exteriors. The Black Sport Package includes 20-inch glossy black wheels, a mesh grille in glossy black, a fender hash decal, and black chevy bowtie badges.

The Blazer’s new, standard infotainment system increases touchscreen size to 10.2″ diagonal, up from 8 and enhanced voice command is now standard. Remote start and LED headlights are also now standard. Wireless phone charging and adaptive cruise control are now available on all trims, including LT.

Supply issue constraints mean that rear park assist, and heated and ventilated seats may not be available on some early build models.

2023 Chevrolet Colorado Model Year Changes

The Colorado pickup is new from the ground up: chassis, engines, transmission, body…

First up, the 2.8 turbo-diesel 4-cylinder, 2.5-liter normally-aspirated 4-cylinder, and 3.6 V6 are gone, replaced by one 2.7-liter turbocharged gasoline 4-cylinder taken right from big-brother Silverado. This engine comes in three states of tune: 237 horsepower and 259 pound-feet of torque, 310 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque, and 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque, known as Base, Mid, and High or standard, Plus, and High-Output. The last is reserved for the ZR2 model. Plus and High-Output both offer up to 7700 pounds of trailer towing. One transmission, an 8-speed 8L80 Gen II automatic is offered; the 6-speed automatic is gone and no manual will be offered.

Larger brakes come installed: 13.4-inches front and 13.3 inches rear rotors. An electronic parking brake is standard, the only one on a mid-sized pickup.

The new body is aggressive and futuristic at the same time. Each trim will have a distinctive front grille and other differentiated styling. Only one body type is to be offered: a crew cab with only one bed size that’s shorter than last year’s long bed but longer than last year’s short bed.

Speaking of the bed, the most ingenious addition since the Honda Ridgeline’s trunk is the optional waterproof tailgate storage, a small, lockable compartment inside the tailgate that can be opened when after the tailgate is down.

All models will have lane keep assist, automatic emergency braking, automatic high beams, and OnStar, for a start.

2023 Chevrolet Corvette Model Year Changes

The mid-engined Corvette opens a new chapter with the return of the Z06. The first naturally-aspirated Z06 since 2013 is also the first overhead cam Corvette since the ZR1 (King of the Hill) in 1995.

Unlike the original LT5 engine, the new Z06 uses a flat-plane crankshaft, similar to those used in Ferrari engines and with the same glorious results: oodles of horsepower, a sky-high (8400 RPM) power peak, and an amazing exhaust note.

The 5.5-liter DOHC V8 produces 670 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. The 8-speed dual-clutch automatic still delivers power to the rear wheels. The Corvette’s available magnetic adjustable suspension is standard on the Z06. In addition, the Z06 gets larger brakes (14.6″/15″ front/rear), and the option of even larger carbon ceramic brakes (15.7″/15.4″). Massively larger tires are part of the package: 275/30ZR20 front and 345/25ZR21.

And if all this ferocity is not enough, the Z07 package adds carbon fiber aerodynamics with 734 pounds of downforce at 186 MPH, carbon fiber wheels, Michelin Cup 2 R ZP tires and includes carbon ceramic brakes.

In smaller news, a 70th-anniversary edition is available; it includes red striped grey wheels, red brake calipers, red seatbelts, and white upholstery (same as the original ’53 model) with red stitching, matching luggage, and 70th-anniversary badges sprinkled throughout. The package is only offered on the 3LT, the highest trim level.

Midnight and Sport editions are new. Midnight Edition includes 18-inch gloss black aluminum wheels, black bowtie emblems, body-color mirror caps, a black mesh grille, and black metallic paint. Sport Edition is exactly the same, except it is available in any color except black.

New red, silver, and bronze paints are available.

Due to supply constraints, parking sensors, steering wheel locks, and hood insulator pads may be deleted from some models. When supplies are corrected dealerships may retrofit the hood insulating pads.
